Strategy for Winning:

The Vice President, Event Marketing is responsible for generating ticket sales revenue and building local market awareness for all UFC events. This position oversees ticket sales and operations, marketing plans, media buying, market research, promotional campaigns, retail activations, community relations and grassroots efforts for (40) live events worldwide annually.  

Essential Functions:

1. Develops strategic local marketing and advertising campaigns to maximize ticket sales and revenue, and maximize event awareness and exposure. 

2. Performs significant market research and analysis of data on ticket sales, buying trends, disposable income, DMAs, TV ratings and PPV buys.

3. Coordinates with venue’s marketing and public relations departments to leverage arena and team assets.

4. Manages and negotiates advertising campaigns with traditional forms of local media including print, radio, TV and outdoor.

5. Works with New Media team to develop and manage digital marketing initiatives, including social media, geo-targeted web advertising and local web promotions.

6. Works with other internal departments (Sponsorship, Affiliate Marketing, Community Relations, Public Relations, etc.) to leverage local sponsor activation, third party promotions, fighter appearances, youth programs, community relations and other charity events to promote upcoming events and increase ticket sales.

7. Creates marketing and brand presentations for each event.  Presents internally and to venue executives, government agencies, local partners and advertisers.

8. Responsible for event marketing budget and ticket sales goals determined by senior management. 

9. Supervises ticket sales and operations, including VIP Experience, group sales and secondary ticketing initiatives.

10. Establishes ticket pricing strategy, revenue projections, venue scaling, on-sale plans and dynamic pricing initiatives.

11. Administers efficient, accurate, and timely reporting mechanisms related to sales activity, as well as budget projections and analysis for senior management.

12. Assist in Finance and Strategy department with ticket sales revenue projections during the annual business planning and budgeting process.

13. Oversees the RFP process, contracts, and vendor relations for ticket system, ticket printing, ticket management and other ticket-related software programs, including dynamic pricing and secondary sales channels.

14. Responsible for hiring and managing local marketing representatives and collaborates with other divisions to effectively manage local marketing network.

15. Works with all departments to maintain and develop a high level of customer service for all customers.

16. Other tasks, projects, and responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Vice President, Event Development & Operations.

Skills & Experience:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Sports Management, Business, or other related area.  Master’s degree strongly preferred.

2. 10+ years experience in sports marketing, touring events, professional team or venue industry.

3. Minimum of 5 years of experience conducting market research.

4. Experience and knowledge of primary ticketing systems, including Ticketmaster, Veritix and AXS, secondary channels and dynamic pricing tactics. 

5. Strong financial reporting skills.

6. Understanding of marketing and advertising principles and the ability to think “outside the box”.

7. Ability to work independently and thrive in a multi-task, fast-paced environment.

8. Highly organized, detail-oriented, high degree of accuracy, proactive and a critical thinker, with excellent decision-making ability.

9. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with individuals at all levels of the organization, internally and externally. 

10. Must be flexible and responsive to evolving and changing business environment.

11. Proven ability to work collaboratively.

12. Ability to travel when needed.

13. Ability to maintain discretion and confidential information. 

14. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and the ability to learn other basic computer programs.

  1. Post Graduate Degree in Exercise Science or other related curriculum required.

  2. 7+ years of high-level technical management experience in science, research, and strength and conditioning fields.

  3. Certification as a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) and/or Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES).

  4. Previous experience working effectively in a high performance environment with elite athletes and coaches.

Responsibilities:

  1. Helps load and unload the event trucks and containers.

  2. Travels to Domestic and International events to set up and take down Octagon.

  3. Runs the gates and trouble shoots any issues with the octagon during events.

  4. Loads out UFC office and all other equipment from event venue after each event.

  5. Performs inspection and maintenance of octagons, including fencing, hardware, paint, etc., while at the Las Vegas warehouse and events, and reports everything to VP, Event Operations.

  6. Helps maintain records of octagon maintenance and provides reports and information as requested.

  7. Participates in inventories of materials and equipment for events and octagons. 

  8. Provides general labor services and general maintenance to other Zuffa departments as requested.

  9. Other tasks, projects and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Skills & Experience:

  1. 2-3 years of experience setting up and taking down similar items i.e. concert staging, ramps, etc.

  2. Forklift and Scissor Lift certification required.

  3. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  4. Strong follow-up skills.

  5. Strong self-motivation/self-starter personality.

  6. Excellent organization and planning skills.

  7. Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to proactively anticipate situations and solve them in advance or have a solution ready.

Position Summary:

The Equipment Specialist reports to the Equipment Director and will be responsible for working on specialized aspects of apparel and related equipment for the Fighters, Cut men, Corner men, The Ultimate Fighter participants, Octagon Girls and other associated fight participants as necessary.  The Equipment Manager will handle the day to day alternations for all athletes, corner’s, and staff and work with Reebok on pattern and fit corrections for athlete outfitting. This position will have specific responsibility related inventory management and procurement. This position will be responsible for developing and executing special projects that fulfill athlete, corner and staff needs. The role will interact with Operations, Fighter Relations, Sponsorship, Events, Fighters, Octagon Girls and outside vendors, suppliers and contractors.  

Essential Functions:

  • Travel to and from Events and Productions to manage the fitting, alternations and repairs of apparel and related equipment to the Fighters and other support roles
  • Manage and maintain all alterations related records for fighters and corners
  • Execute repairs and alterations for staff apparel, Octagon Girls, Corners, etc.
  • Promotional product inventory management including placing of orders, maintaining      minimum /maximum levels, tracking of such orders and interfacing with Reebok on management of inventory maintained at their facilities
  • Collaborate with licensees on garment and fit  improvement including pattern alterations and fabrications
  • Layout and printing all of heat set materials for athlete and corner kits
  • Procure and maintain inventory on all heat set supplies
  • Collaborate with on-site TUF production team to provide alterations and fittings of apparel needs for all fighters, coaches and auxiliary staff as necessary
  •  Launder, repair and manage alterations for all TUF production talent
  • Inventory and communicate product needs and changes for future TUF productions

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree
  • Ten years work experience, or more, in apparel production, apparel alterations/tailoring or related business
  • Knowledge of apparel construction, fabrication and related areas of business
  • Strong cross-functional skills, excellent analytical/conceptual abilities and a capacity for creativity and innovation 
  • Ability to synthesize and clearly communicate critical issues and actionable opportunities
  • Experience with construction of sports apparel and/or cut and sew knits and wovens
  • Energetic self-starter with strong executive presence and the ability to work effectively in a highly matrixed environment
  • Ability to make decisions to grow and protect the brand
  • Leadership and management skills in addition to the ability to work in both a creative and a tactical, strategic mode
  • Excellent presentation skills and the ability to influence and work successfully with varied audiences
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and deadlines
