This department contributes to the organization through promotion of UFC products.

We are currently seeking an intern for our Public Relations department. This internship will work closely with the Publicists and Media Relations Coordinators.
 

Through this opportunity, you will learn entry level public relations, and will have the opportunity to learn and observe the activities that go into promoting a dynamic, fast-paced entertainment and sports organization, events, and athletes. You will receive exposure to all facets of public relations, including press releases, media relations, special events, and creative brainstorming.

Daily activities will include the following:

- Coordination media events and managing media.
- Researching writers
- Assisting with maintenance of the media database
- Coordinating schedules for fighters in conjunction with events
- Drafting press releases
- Coordinating interviews for events
- Assisting with drafting media pitches
- Assisting with daily news tracking, compilation and distribution

We are seeking candidates that are:

- Public Relations, Journalism, English or Communications majors
- Should be very proficient in Microsoft Word
- Proficient in writing and editing copy
- Have the desire and ability to create compelling, unique stories and ideas
- Is comfortable in meetings and calls with high profile people and media entities
- Has excellent communication and organization skills
- Ability to maintain discretion and confidential information
- Team player
- Willing to learn and grow

Requirements:

- Must be enrolled in an academic program that is relevant to public relations activities
- Junior, Senior or Graduate student preferred
- Must receive academic credit for internship
- Must be able to work a minimum of 30+ hours per week if also attending school or 40+ hours per week if not

As an intern with Finance/Accounting you will:

-          Develop an understanding and ability to use the finance department’s primary software tools: JD Edwards (accounting system) and Insight (financial statement, analysis and forecasting tool).

-          Help with the preparation of event budgets from beginning with the original budget through to populating the actual results. Highlight any major discrepancies between forecasted event budgets and actual results.

-          Enter historical department, territory and event budget and actual information into Insight.

-          Learn how to forecast and prepare an annual budget for a mid-size company

-          Learn how to maintain and track that budget as actual results occur during the year

-          Understand the external audit process and the requirements that must be complied with by companies

We are seeking candidates that are:

- Sports Management, Finance or Business majors, or other programs relevant to Accounting, Finance or Business. Junior, Senior or Graduate level preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

10. Reviews existing digital venues (both online and mobile) for accuracy and timeliness of content
11. Supports digital team members on various projects as needed.

We are seeking candidates that are:

1. Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Business Management, Marketing, New Media or related field.
2. Interested in new and emerging forms of communication and technology.
3. Must have strong organizational skills, writing ability and a basic understanding of marketing concepts and techniques.
4. Should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
5. Ability and desire to work and learn in a fast-paced work environment.

Assist with the building of PowerPoint research decks

Assist in the tracking of brands/categories available for research by region

Assist in the beginning steps of analyses for various departments

Attend meetings to gain a better understanding of what your department does on a day-to-day and how they contribute to the company as a whole

What will you learn during the internship?·  

How companies like the UFC use primary and secondary data sources to assist every department within the company

How to create data-driven stories that support sales efforts

What tools and partners are leverages for consumer and brand insights

How to interface with Simmons and Scarborough

Gain a better understanding of what to examine to gain a baseline understanding of your brand’s audience/consumers

We are seeking candidates that are:

- Finance, Marketing or Economics majors
- Should be very proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Is comfortable in meetings and calls with high profile people and media entities
- Has excellent communication and organization skills
- Ability to maintain discretion and confidential information
- Team player
- Willing to learn and grow
- Must be able to work a minimum of 30+ hours per week if also attending school or 35+ hours per week if not currently attending classes.

Strategy for Winning:

Our office consists of people who are passionate, dedicated and innovative people. The tasks associated with this internship will fall into two categories:

1)      Media

     a.       Planning – work with the department staff on planning elements of media promotion for UFC PPV events, FIGHT PASS marketing, and other promotions as they arise

     b.      Buying – work with the staff in coordinating internal and external buying parties such as media agencies for media buys

     c.       Reporting – work with the team compiling post-campaign results analysis of media performance, which will involve:

                 i.      Collecting proof-of-performance documentation from media partners

                ii.      Compiling and tracking event-to-event Key Performance Indicators

2)      Marketing Campaigns

     a.       Planning – determining target market segments for each individual campaign as the particulars dictate,

     b.      Executing – requesting creative treatments from production and creative departments

     c.       Tracking the delivery of all creative campaign elements

     d.      Distribution of campaign elements to affiliate partners

     e.      Cross-departmental communication and fulfillment of campaign elements

Specifically, the intern will work on promotions within the semester related to upcoming Pay-Per-View events. For summer, 2015, these will include UFC 188,  UFC 189, UFC 190, and UFC 191.  They will be asked to gather post-event performance data and compile results for UFC 187, UFC 188, and UFC 189, and build “campaign books” for these events.  The intern will also attend meetings and conference calls with media agency partners, and other partners to gain an understanding of the nuances of building marketing campaigns in support of live televised events.

The intern will learn from the ground up the processes of building a Pay-Per-View Television tune in marketing campaign, from budgeting and planning, to the development of messaging and creative, to the targeting of high propensity segments, to the execution of media buys and fulfillment of campaign materials, to the analysis of campaign performance after the dust settles.
