Editor I - Live Production - First Level Position - Ultimate Fighting Championship (Las Vegas, NV)

Position:

The Editor I is responsible for creating and delivering content for live event broadcasts.  This position is also responsible for creating template-based graphics and ensuring QC of all delivered content.  This position travels.  Due to remote needs, this position will periodically work the swing shift into the late evening.

Responsibilities:

1.     Create elements utilized in event studio shows – primarily broll packages, along with short features and montages.

2.     QC and deliver all finalized elements for designated event and broadcasts.

3.     Work remotely from events as needed.

4.     Create and deliver template-based animations to be used in broadcasts.

5.     Media manage multiple events simultaneously within storage capacity limitations.

6.     Edit content as needed to support live event requirements.

Skills & Experience:

1.      2-4 years experience in a related field

2.     High school, GED or equivalent.  Bachelor’s degree or Associates degree preferred.

3.     Intermediate editing skills and knowledge of AVID Media Composer

4.     Knowledge of various video codecs and compression methods.

5.     Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite/Creative Cloud preferred, especially Photoshop and After Effects.

6.     Knowledge of post-production standards

7.     Excellent organizational skills

8.     Excellent attention to small details

9.     Ability to maintain discretion and confidential information

10.  Ability to work autonomously

11.  Knowledge of UFC historical information helpful

12.  Ability to work other hours such as swing shift, graveyard shift, weekends.

Our office consists of people who are passionate, dedicated and innovative. This Editor III opportunity requires a highly skilled, creative editor with superior storytelling ability and demonstrated expertise in short and long form production for broadcast and digital platforms.

Responsibilities:

1. Uses bold storytelling techniques to create short-form content including promos, features, sizzle reels and promotional elements.

2. Edits long-form content that seamlessly incorporates information, promotion, personality and drama. These programs premiere on Fox Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass and include fighter profiles, archival event coverage and original long-form programming.

3. Responsibility for innovating the visual design of entire programs, including themes, music, color treatment and graphic look.

4. Works independently on some projects and collaborates with teammates on other projects.

5. Other tasks, projects, and responsibilities as assigned.

Skills and Expertise:

1. Minimum of five (5) years editing experience on both short-form and long-form projects for broadcast television.

2. Must have an ever-evolving understanding of the latest editing techniques and visual trends, as well as the agility to incorporate them into existing formats and brand guidelines.

3. Must be proficient in HD workflow, Adobe Premier, Avid Media Composer, Final Cut Studio Suite, After Effects, Photoshop, and have solid technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills. Proficiency in motion graphics is preferred. Experience with 3D modeling and animation a plus. Experience with tapeless workflow preferred.

4. Must be able to work both independently and collaboratively on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

5. Experience working for an agency, post-production company or broadcast creative team is a plus.

6. College degree preferred, High School diploma or equivalent GED required.

7. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

8. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail is necessary.

9. Must maintain discretion and confidential information.

10. Must have working knowledge of basic administrative office computer programs, on Mac and Windows PC workstations.

11. Experience in a sports environment preferred. Knowledge of MMA is a plus.

12. Work hours will typically take place Monday through Friday.

Assistant Editor - On Call/Temporary - Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) (Las Vegas, NV)

This temporary on-call position is based in Las Vegas, the UFC’s hometown and the Fight Capital of the World. Las Vegas matches the passion and energy of the UFC and offers a vast array of entertainment, restaurants, spas, golf courses, shops and accommodations. The UFC, owned and operated by Zuffa, LLC, has additional offices in London, Toronto, Singapore and Sao Paulo.

The Assistant Editor is responsible for supporting the Zuffa edit staff in their daily needs, facilitating the archive of the Zuffa library and supporting outside production vendors in their needs for content. This position is also responsible for trafficking promos and creating event PR reels along with convention DVD content loops. This position does not travel and remains at Zuffa headquarters. Due to space and the availability of equipment, this position generally works the swing shift.

Essential Functions:
• Digitize, convert and organize content for use by editors
• Clip highlights after each event using a Digital Asset System; log and export content from the Digital Asset System for use by editors
• Compile footage for contracted vendors for producing features for the live event broadcasts and promotional programming
• Lay timelines to tape when projects are completed by editors
• Convert show masters to various formats for international distribution to partners
• Edit and author DVDs for loops played at convention booths, fighter appearances and press conferences
• Arrange fighter highlights for upcoming events for Public Relations department and create graphics for use in live events
 
Minimum Qualifications:
• 1-2 years experience in a related field
• High School, GED or equivalent required.  Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree preferred.
• Knowledge of Final Cut and Avid non linear editing systems.
• Knowledge of various video codecs and compression medthods; experience with 3D modeling and animation a plus
• Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite/Creative Cloud preferred.
• Knowledge of DVD and Blu-ray disc formats preferred; knowledge of tape based workflows a plus
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing with individuals in all levels of the organization.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Excellent attention to small details.
• Ability to maintain discretion and confidential information.
• Ability to work autonomously.
• Excellent decision making ability.
• Knowledge of UFC historical information helpful.
• Ability to work other hours such as swing shift, graveyard shift, weekends.
